Week 2. - More type design / Scrap book
Magazines.
Students must bring in magazines of all types (Fashion / Game / Entertainment / Housing etc.)
3 Ring binder.
Students must also bring a 3 ring binder. Students will be responsible to cut out 3 designs each week to put into their 3 ring binders , students are also to write a paragraph on each design they cut out from a magazine on why they like that design.

Students are to choose one of the 3 text effects tutorials and follow it thoroughly. Once they get the understanding of the effect.
Students are then to create a design using there name.
Homework.
Typeface designers - www.freebase.com/view/base/typefaces/views/typeface_creator
Writing Assignment - 1. Select an influential name such as John
Baskerville, Claude Garamond, Frederic Goudy,
or any contemporary typographers such as
Hermann Zapf or Matthew Carter.
Include background information on the
designer’s life, career, and successes. Limit this
section to a paragraph.
The content of your report should be in type only.
Your report should use a typeface created by the
designer selected, for example Futura designed by
Paul Renner in 1928. Your report can include as
many weights of that type family as you wish, such
as bold, italic, or condensed.
1. Include references for all your sources.
2. This report should be printed out and should not be a
file submission.
3. Include the name of the designer, the background,
five typefaces designed by that designer, and the
name of the typeface you used for your report.
4. Use double space in the report with 1-inch margins
on all sides.
5. Include your name, class, date, and sources.
6. Finally I want you to create a design with the type face you chosen to honor the creator.
Your design must include your paragraphs and information.
This paper will be due week 4, please post this in your post work section.
Lab 03. - Typography Text Design. (Black and White Postive & Negative Space.)
1.Students are to create a Design completely out of typeface.
Students are only aloud to use no more then 3 typeface.
2. Students may only use up to 3 colors.
3. Size 11 x 8.5 (Letter or landscape.)
4. You work must be based around a famous movie quote. Example - "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!" - (Gone with the Wind)
5. You are aloud to live trace one or two pictures but must be black and white.
6. Please post your final version in the post work section. (Please save for web.)
7. This lab is due beginning of class next week.
