Week 1.
Course Description:
This course teaches student the proper methods on how to prepare and write proper cover letters, follow-up letters, thank you letters, How to design and create proper functional and graphic resumes. Downloadable PDF graphic resumes. Students will also start there phase one portfolio piece for the game design degree demo reel.
Student have already taken courses in Intro to Modeling where they focused the entire quarter learning 3D Max hard surface modeling techniques. Students also have taken Intro to texture and lighting. Student will take the techniques they have learned in the two previous courses to create there first completed portfolio Hard Surface game model fully (Modeled, Textured with Lighting, Student will also learn multiple render passes that need to be applied. Students will also create and show case there completed model at the end of class with a complete one minute video created in after effects showing Ambient Occlussion pass to wire frame pass and finally fully textured pass. texture maps included (Diffuse, Bump, Specular, Normal Maps.)
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
• Students will learn to write proper cover letters.
• Follow up letters.
• Thank you letters.
• Functional and Graphical Resumes
• Students will learn the basics of After Effects for composite purposes.
• Students will focus on there first demo reel model for showcase. Must be a minimum 1 min in length.
• Student must complete a fully detailed hard surface model with excellent topology. (Must meet requirements.)
• Fully Texture. (Must meet requirements.)
• 3 Point Lightning set up. (Must meet requirements.)
• Fully Modeled 3d Set to accommodate the hard surface model. (Must meet requirements.)
• Demo piece must have multiple Camera passes.
(AO. Pass, Diffuse Pass, and Wire pass.)
ATTENDANCE
Regular classroom attendance is not only an essential ingredient for academic achievement, but it is also a fundamental building block for success. Students in any of the internship courses are required to complete all scheduled hours and record attendance throughout the scheduled course to achieve satisfactory attendance. Students who do not achieve satisfactory attendance may earn a failing grade on their transcripts and may be required to repeat the course. Absences will include tardiness or early departures. Students who are not in attendance for any portion of a class will accrue time absent calculated in percentage increments of 25, 50, or 100 percent of the class period as reflected on each daily roster. Students who have been absent from all their scheduled classes for more than 14 consecutive calendar days, not including scheduled Institutional holidays or breaks, and/or students who officially withdraw from all current courses will be administratively withdrawn from the Institution.
Attendance/Course Participation For Online Courses
The Institution recognizes that regular attendance has a positive impact on a student’s success in his or her degree program of study. Students are expected to be in class for all regularly scheduled class periods and to report to class on time. The Institution posts attendance for each course every week to support academic success and properly administer financial aid. Absences of five days or more are correlated with increased risk of not finishing a course.
Academic participation includes attending scheduled classes and labs, engaging in the online environment, reading materials, working problems, using the library and other resources, viewing videos, and other academically related activities supporting learning as well as personal and professional developmental activities. The nature of the learning environment and the special needs of adult students require a revised definition of “present” if one of the following conditions applies:
• The student is physically in the classroom or lab.
• The student has participated in the learning environment including submitting an assignment, taken a knowledge check, or participated in a graded online discussion board.
Attendance recorded in the online component of a course (up to 100% online), will have a grade associated with the activity. Fully online courses require two online academic activities per week to receive full credit.
Grading Scale and Criteria:
30% - Final Project
30% - Writing Assignments / Labs / Quizzes
40% - Participation
Writing Assignments:
Students are required to complete each writing assignment before they can begin working on there demo reel project.

Lab Assignments:
Students are to render out WIPS (Work in Progresses)
1 WIP is required every week. Both AO pass and Wire Pass combined.

Phase 2: Lighting (3 Point Lighting Set up and Dynamic Lighting)
Phase 3: Texturing (UVW Unwrap and Custom Texturing)
